Board of Directors Meeting
Minutes – Fort Collins Audubon Society. April 2, 2009
Meeting came to order at 7pm.
Present: Krahnke, Grant, Waddell, Adams, Harden, Miller, Thomas,
Meschievitz, Hull.
Absent: Cobble, Defonso, Hurmence, Kilkelly, Kogler, Martin,
Pruessner, Tupper
Treasurer’s Report: The checking account balance at the end of
March was $2875.55. The total balance was $16,569.48. Expenses included
$158 for the deposit and rental of the Loveland Museum for 23 April 2009
and $50.00 membership dues to the Colorado Nonprofit Association. Dave
Showalter book, Prairie Thunder, sales total receipts were $586. Dave
Showalter expenses including $290 for books were $507.76. Net profits
were $78.24, half of which was paid to our co-sponsor, Colorado Native
Plant Society.
Committee Reports
Membership: Tupper was absent but reported no new information
Finance: Nothing to report
Education: Thomas reported on a successful walk on March 14 and a
cancellation because of snow on the 4th. She is also working with the
Bird Fair Committee. There was some discussion of acquiring a tablecloth
with FCAS logo and a ;larger display board. Further research was
encouraged. Scheduled events for April are walks on the 11th and the
23rd, and the Environmental Film Festival on the 17th in Loveland and
the 22nd in Ft. Collins.
Conservation: Miller reported on the State Public Policy Committee,
which Ron Harden chairs and the financial problems at the state level.
Field Trips: Defonso reported on March activities including a photo
viewing at the Primrose Studio that he and Leatherman did on their trip
to the Denver Zoo. He also noted the cancellation of Kogler's trip on
March 28th because of weather.

Programs
Meschievitz reported the following upcoming programs:
April 9: Elk Management in Rocky Mountain National Park presented by
John Mack, National Park Service.
April 23: “Nebraska Sandhills: Sea of Grass” presented by Stephen Jones
in Loveland
May: Telling the stories of trees and restoring habitat, presented by
Randy Moench, Manager of Colorado State Forest Service Nursery
June (25): Photographer and author, Paul Bannick. Reader’s Cove
Bookstore-Fort Collins
Sept. 10: Sarah Bexell, Black-Footed Ferrets
Oct. 16: Connie Kogler, Costa Rica trip
Old Business
Garden Tour. Committee met on the 2nd. They have 3 gardens confirmed
and have handouts for the program meeting on the 13th. Making progress
on two sponsors for each garden.
Birdathon. Kogler was absent but sent in a report of ongoing progress
on number of teams, location for post-count get-together, and publicity
efforts.
Larimer County Fair. No follow-up reported.
Monitor purchase. Discussed but no decision yet.
New Business
Extended discussion of ways of filling vacant leadership positions.
